Companies support one of the municipality’s largest cultural celebrations where they are present
Albras and Hydro reaffirm their commitment to Barcarena’s cultural and sustainable development by supporting the 43rd Pineapple Festival. With an interactive and technological booth, the companies offered the public an immersive experience in the aluminum journey, from bauxite extraction to the production of low-carbon primary aluminum, highlighting initiatives that promote a more sustainable future for the municipality.
Organized by the Municipality of Barcarena since 1979, the festival is one of the region’s most traditional events, bringing the city major musical performances, as well as a space for culture and entertainment for the population, attracting large audiences and boosting the local economy. The companies’ presence also marked the celebration of Albras’ 40th anniversary and Alunorte’s 30th anniversary, both taking place in 2025.
Institutional action
In the institutional space, Albras and Hydro carried out a series of interactive activities designed to introduce the companies to the public, including an immersive tunnel with high-definition images of operations, from mining in Paragominas to the Alunorte alumina refinery, and finally to the production of primary aluminum ingots at Albras, both in Barcarena.
In addition, samples of materials from the various stages of aluminum production were displayed, from bauxite to the final product found in people’s homes, including the primary aluminum ingots produced at Albras.
The booth’s construction featured flooring blocks and cobogós (perforated wall elements), both made from bauxite residue. This sustainable practice reduces environmental impacts while generating high-quality prefabricated pieces for the construction industry, combining functionality, design, and sustainability. The companies also distributed gifts to celebrate their anniversaries.
