Albras celebrates 39 years of commitment to sustainability in Pará
30 de October de 2024
Albras, the largest primary aluminum producer in Brazil, celebrates its 39th anniversary this Thursday, October 24. With an annual capacity of 460 thousand tons, the company is the result of a joint venture between Hydro and NAAC – Nippon Amazon Aluminum Co. Ltd. The company supplies high-purity ingots to the domestic and foreign aluminum markets, which serve as raw material for the manufacture of various items, from packaging and household goods to components for automobiles and aircraft.
Located in Barcarena (PA), the company stands out for producing aluminum with one of the lowest CO2 rates in the world, using renewable energy and ensuring stability in its production processes. The low-carbon aluminum series has maximum emissions of 4.0 kg of CO2 per kg of aluminum produced, a value significantly lower than the global average defined by the International Aluminum Institute (12.9 tCO2e/t aluminum).
In 2024, the company renewed its Gold Seal for the seventh consecutive year in the GHG Protocol, which quantifies and manages greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and reinforces the commitment of corporations to produce low-carbon aluminum and promote the decarbonization of the sector. Albras also achieved, for the third consecutive year, certification from the Zero Waste to Landfill Program, which attests that its products are manufactured in a facility with zero waste sent to landfills.
